Data and Attribution
VoltaAMP is assembled from several sources with different licences and different levels of confidence. This page names each one and explains what it is trusted for.
Updated 4 October 2026
1.Why this page exists
Several of VoltaAMP's data sources require attribution as a condition of their licence, and one of its datasets is explicitly unverified. Publishing all of this in one place is both a licence obligation and the honest way to present a directory that is still being built.
2.Map data and basemap
Roads, place names, and the underlying geography come from OpenStreetMap, © OpenStreetMap contributors, available under the Open Database Licence (ODbL).
Vector tiles and the default map style are served by OpenFreeMap. OpenFreeMap is free to use and carries no service-level agreement, so map tiles can be slow or unavailable without notice.
Two optional map types come from other providers. Topographic terrain is served by OpenTopoMap (© OpenTopoMap, CC BY-SA), drawn from OpenStreetMap data and SRTM elevation data. The satellite map type shows Esri World Imagery, Powered by Esri, with imagery from Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community, used under VoltaAMP's ArcGIS Location Platform account. Satellite imagery can be unavailable for part of a month once VoltaAMP's monthly imagery allowance is used up; the other map types are not affected.
Map labels prefer Arabic names in Arabic and English names in English, falling back to the general name field when a localised name is missing. OpenStreetMap coverage in Jordan is uneven, so some roads and places carry only one language.
3.Search and routing
Place search and driving routes are provided by openrouteservice, operated by HeiGIT, and are used under its free plan. Requests are proxied through the VoltaAMP server so the API key is never exposed to your browser, and results are rate limited.
openrouteservice licenses its search and route results under CC BY-SA 4.0. Place search also draws on OpenAddresses, GeoNames (CC BY 4.0), and Who's On First. VoltaAMP caches recent results for a short time and sends openrouteservice only the search text and coordinates, never your identity.
openrouteservice does not offer Arabic manoeuvre instructions. VoltaAMP therefore renders every navigation instruction from the numeric manoeuvre code through its own bilingual catalogue, so Arabic guidance is written by VoltaAMP rather than translated on the fly.
4.Regulator dataset
VoltaAMP holds the 237 charging records published by the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission's public charger GIS as of 30 July 2026, imported as a nationwide validation dataset.
Every one of those records is stored as AI-researched, marked as requiring permission to be treated as authoritative, and displayed as AI-added · Unverified. Thirteen exact facility duplicates are held unpublished in favour of higher-quality VoltaAMP records.
No record from this dataset asserts live availability or pricing. Connector and power details are kept only where the source exposed a usable value.
5.VoltaAMP first-party records
Stations, connectors, operators, pricing, opening hours, amenities, and EV service businesses that VoltaAMP has reviewed itself are stored as first-party domain data, separately from the map. Record origin and verification state are stored separately, so a record can be VoltaAMP-created without being operationally verified.
6.Community contributions
Verified members contribute road events, short-lived station check-ins, corrections, and missing-station suggestions. Confidence in a contribution is calculated from independent, trust-weighted votes with a neutral starting point and a minimum of three votes, and contributors cannot vote on their own submissions.
7.What each verification state means
- AI-added · Unverified — researched from a traceable public source and not confirmed by anyone. Treat as a lead.
- Community reported — submitted or corrected by members and not yet formally verified.
- Owner verified — reviewed and confirmed by VoltaAMP.
- Operator verified — confirmed by the charging network or business that runs the site.
- Regulator verified — confirmed against an authoritative regulator record.
- Development data — internal test data that should not appear in production.
8.Reporting an error
If a station is wrong, missing, or closed, tell us from the report page. Submissions go to a private moderation queue where they are reviewed before any public record changes.
9.Attribution notice
Map data © OpenStreetMap contributors, ODbL. Tiles by OpenFreeMap. Terrain tiles © OpenTopoMap (CC BY-SA). Satellite imagery Powered by Esri; source: Esri, Vantor, Earthstar Geographics, and the GIS User Community. Directions and place search © openrouteservice by HeiGIT | Data from OpenStreetMap. Charging locations partly derived from the Energy and Minerals Regulatory Commission's public charger GIS.
10.Open-source software
The VoltaAMP web app is built with open-source software and openly licensed fonts. Their licences require their copyright notices to accompany the app, so the open-source licences page lists every package and font with its licence and links to the full licence texts.
